Bio

Charmaine Chan is an Associate Visual Effects Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic. Originally from Hawaii, she received a BA in Studio Art from the University of California, Irvine. She first joined ILM back in 2007 at the San Francisco office before transferring over to the ILM London office in 2019. Charmaine has recently supervised on: The Creator, Andor, and The Marvels.

Charmaine is currently based out of the ILM London office where she has helped shape both the virtual production and episodic divisions. She was part of the original ILM StageCraft “Brain Bar” team for the first season of the Emmy Award-winning series, The Mandalorian, where she helped innovate real time rendering on the StageCraft platform. She has continued to help develop and progress StageCraft on other projects such as The Batman and Andor.

With over sixteen years of experience, Charmaine has composited on films such as Warcraft, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Black Panther. She has also tackled theme park rides and experiences such as Soarin’ Around the World at Disneyland and The Race Through New York at Universal Studios.

Charmaine is extremely dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the visual effects industry. She is the executive sponsor for “Mosaic”, Lucasfilm’s community of ethnically and racially diverse employees. And she has also started her own portrait and video series called “Women in VFX” where she interviews and highlights women within the visual effects field.
